Aware of the paradigm shift and the new approach introduced by the United Nations\u00a0Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), SUPPORT plans to\u00a0contribute actively to the implementation of the UNCRPD provisions. Within our\u00a0lifespan the Foundation has developed an innovative support approach in\u00a0collaboration with other service providers and stakeholders aligned and committed\u00a0with Human Rights that contributed to build a more inclusive society in our region.<\/p>\n
To achieve our goal, SUPPORT uses every legal tool in our legal framework as a\u00a0mechanism for Support Decision-Making \u2013 we are primarily appointed as Guardians,\u00a0Curators or Assistants, according to the Catalan Civil Code \u2013 by developing our role\u00a0with the least restrictive approach from the individual’s autonomy point of view. These\u00a0support mechanisms allow each individual to be more autonomous in taking decisions\u00a0about their life.<\/p>\n
We conceptualise and carry out our daily practice enabling individuals to exercise\u00a0choice and control over the way they want to be supported, promoting self-autonomy\u00a0and providing global support to foster their social inclusion. We try to ensure\u00a0protection and safety of the supported individual avoiding complete abandonment\u00a0and neglect.<\/p>\n
To further advance in this endeavour, SUPORT is reviewing and adapting all its internal\u00a0procedures by executing a supervised quality assurance plan pursuing to reduce\u00a0interventions limiting Human Rights.<\/p>\n
